Montreal - Day 2

I know I'm like four days late in blogging my day 2 experience in Montreal (17th). But it's better late than never =_=! Anyway, I should mention about Day 1's continuation since it didn't end that way.

20080117 cont'd
After 1 hour walk on St. Catherine street, spending 1/2 hour in a bookstore (I'm such a nerd), I went back to the hotel to find 2 of my 3 roommates in. Originally, I didn't plan on going to the pub night thingy, but I got convinced and thought might as well as drop by. The result, pub night didn't turn out as bad as I thought. I thought it would be me, sitting in a corner, listening to the conversation instead of participating in it. I spend most of the time with this white guy who knows cantonese (but we didn't communicate in cantonese) and his friends (one of whom is my roommate). It's pretty fascinating considering he homestayed in HK for 6 months and 6 years of self-learning, he can understand most cantonese. Even though he can't really read, that's still pretty good. His pronunciation isn't too bad either. Interestingly, he found mandarin to be harder than cantonese. I guess that's because he started cantonese first before mandarin.

20080118
Coming back from the pub around 1am, watched some Australian Open and went to sleep. Woke up next morning around 7 and felt like... crap~ Went to the first keynote speaker and couldn't stand it anymore. Went back to the hotel and got some more nap. Ate lunch at McDonald's and went to the other presentations. Around 5 or so, went back to get dressed into formal clothings and attended that formal banquet. I couldn't understand why we needed to be formal since... the restaurant isn't formal itself. And the food... the food aren't bad. But we had to wait for 3 hours in total. We arrived there around 7.30 and we left around 10 something. I thought, they should've served in the chinese way. Like... make the same food, bring it out to all tables, wait 10 minutes, bring another dish. Not like, please select one from the following four dishes and we'll make it now... You are serving 400 ppl for gxx sake... and you are not just serving us~ man~

After the banquet, some ppl went out for more pubbing/clubbing. I stayed in the hotel since I'm not as energetic as them and pubbing is just not my thing. Just I watched more tennis to put me to sleep.
